Having served as the cardiac service line of Loma Linda University Medical Center (LLUMC) since 1987, our multidisciplinary medical team of experts consists of cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, nurses and specialized clinicians who are committed to providing compassionate care for the treatment of cardiac and vascular diseases.

Adult Congenital Heart Disease

Heart Failure

  • Experience exceptioanl care provided by our collaborative team with doctors, nurse practioners, case managers, and licensed vocational nurses (LVNs)
  • One-on-one patient education for medications and cardiac diets, as needed
  • Availability of same day appointments on weekdays with nurse practioners for established patients
  • Joint care with our electrophysiology team for patients with pacemakers/defibrillators
  • Access to psychology treatment for short-term intervention
  • Left ventricular assist device (LVAD) placement and monitoring for destination therapy or bridge to transplant
  • Heart transplantation and monitoring with same doctors from heart failure continuum to transplant

Emergency Cardiac Services

  • Acute myocardial infarction (acute heart attack/chest pain)
  • Acute congestive heart failure (shortness of breath)
  • Cardiac arrhythmia and syncope (fainting)
  • Acute aortic dissection (splitting of aortic wall causing chest pain)
  • Cardiac tamponade (compression of heart from fluid collection around it)

Preventive Cardiology

  • Promotion of cardiovascular health with various prevention strategies as a part of our institutional philosophy of "living whole"
  • Strategies address preventable cardiac problems including coronary artery disease, hypertension, high cholesterol, congestive heart failure and cardiac arrhythmias like atrial fibrillation
  • Collaboration with primary care physicians to promote various preventive strategies including healthy diet, regular exercise, control of blood pressure and cholesterol
  • Comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation program to promote health of patients after various cardiac surgeries
